Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
